tonight I walked Ontario's south lake shore
as did we the evening previous.
smooth round red rocks whispered
of time's violent eons.
patterned driftwood spoke
to cycles of birth, life, and dying,
held between touching fingers.
an sherbet orange sunset sky
melded horizon to water,
rock to wood,
the stories of our lives
to waves beneath our
feet.
