crows

as a boy
in south Texas
I heard crows
cawing through
tree branches
only in
autumn.

now in mid-life
I hear crows
cawing in bright
summer
heat.

is
autumn
upon me
so soon?

  1. The seasons, and time itself, stand still for no man. You capture this beautifully in your poem, a poignant reminder of our own mortality. And I love the photograph too :)

  2. Reminiscent and thought provoking. It's a subject I've been pondering lately, as well.

  5. Ahhh, the crows awaken me each morning all summer long here in central Texas. Even so there are hints of autumn in the air.
