doubt
      doubt paralyzes
      rejection stuns
      acquiescence awakens
              more doubt.
      a soul stands
              dumbfounded
      in the face of
              kindness desiring to give,
              neediness being vanquished,
              unrequited love
           pleading for reprieve.
