stained

"I've witnessed all suffering,"
the jaded one spoke,
"no one escapes -
season to season
reasons for living
made prisoner by
hope."

"I've swallowed all sadness,"
the jaded one mused,
"joy heralds darkness,
anger fells peace,
reflections of lives
we've squandered
and used."

"I've heeded each silence,"
the jaded one thought,
"with eyes wide open
eternity sleeps for
paradise dreamed,
resurrection
bought."

  1. This piece is stained with much angst and agony. Still, I like to think that of faith, love and hope, the greatest is hope.

  2. I would agree by saying that hope can provide incentive for individuals and even communities to take positive actions encouraged by kindness and love.

  3. Your poem reminds me of lyrics from a song Aerosmith recorded 'we'll slip into the velvet glove and be jaded' ... interesting Magpie, I enjoyed it!!

  7. I see a dark angel
    with bright white wings
    hooded, darkness for eyes,
    holding a great jeweled sword,
    always present for strife,
    and pushed to the shadows
    when peace reigns temporally;
yet in this world, during any age,
    this holy legion stays busy.

  8. This is a complex piece Rick. I'm not sure I understand it (I'll read it again and again). But I like the musicality of it. And "the jaded one", that's all of us, hard to miss.
