Big Room, 1948, by Andrew Wyeth
Shared by Tess Kincaid
vacant house
vacant house
sits alone
occupants gone years prior.
voices echo
in faded memories
of lives long departed.
hearts of souls remaining
to reflect
serve only to
sweep away
traces of lifedreams
collected as dust
upon the
floor.

Nice painting of the vacant room, dusty with faded memories ~
ReplyDeleteIt seems this week's consensus is that the picture is devoid of life...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Grace and Jinksy...
ReplyDelete"lifedreams collected as dust" made me wince, but also nod in recognition. A powerful 'setting of the hook', as it were.
ReplyDelete"traces of lifedreams
ReplyDeletecollected as dust
upon the
floor. "
awesome lines!
I love the sense of something lingering in the dust, Rick. Wyeth's canvas has that, but what paint tubes does lingering memories come in..... Paynes Gray? Thanks for sharing this vacant but otherwise occupied poem. it's beautiful.
ReplyDeletei can almost hear the voices..x
ReplyDeleteI really like these lines:
ReplyDelete"sweep away
traces of lifedreams
collected as dust
upon the
floor."
So very lovely.
Great but sad.
ReplyDeleteLife dreams left as dust...beautiful...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and sad...

ReplyDeleteNicely melancholic without being overdone.
ReplyDelete"Hearts of souls"..such a poignant piece..lovely..
ReplyDeleteA bittersweet take on the photo. Empty rooms do that to me too. Sometimes all that's left is dust upon the floor. Well written!
ReplyDeleteNostalgia/melancholy well done. Unusual, that!
ReplyDeleteSad yet beautiful Rick....I kind of went the same way with mine as well. :-)
ReplyDeletetraces of lifedreams
ReplyDeletecollected as dust ...
