a raging river
flooding my face
yet not one raindrop
falling from your eyes.
as in all storms
one home swept away,
one home left standing.
listen for the
sound of raindrops
on the river
as you seek shelter
in the home
left standing.

This opening line says so much and comes full circle with the last. Beautiful piece, Rick.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Willow. I was taught, thank goodness, to ALWAYS wear a life preserver on water. :)
ReplyDeleterick, this is a great piece...you subtly built the angst for the impending storm...
ReplyDeleteby the way, thought this had to be the pic for magpie and was already formulating my story...but its not...sad. its a great pic!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brian. If you want to do a story with the photo that would be great!
ReplyDeletestunning image plus grand opening,
ReplyDeleteyour post rocks!
Wonderful writing, I've spent quite a bit of time reading here today.
ReplyDeleteso many layers can be felt with this, as if all that hasn't been said is lurking around the periphery - nice writing. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was swept away!
