invincible
our old ways
were drink
and laughter,
with nary
a thought
to disaster
small
or great. for
each one
we've seen
amongst
others,
(denying it
could happen
to us or
those of us)
there harbors
little faith
in ecumenical
eventualities.

ReplyDeleteGood phrase -- ecumenical eventualities. Good poem, Rick.
ReplyDeleteClever, telling little poem. Enjoyed its tightness.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. ANOTHER spam comment. I really don't want to be forced to turn on comment approval and all the security crap...
ReplyDeleteYes, I like the "ecumenical eventualities" phrase too. When we are young we feel invincible and as we age we learn "it" could happen to any of us. Very telling poem.
