Magpie Tales Photo Prompt 100: An Ocean Of Faith?
beatitude
religion I've discarded,
the comprehension of which
drowns my spirit.
voices of supplication
to an unseen all-knowing
require suspension of doubt:
I cannot live in repressed fear
of the unknown, having heard
the clarion call of life
and pleasure.
for now, my prayers
are answered.

i am glad they are answered...and i dont know that faith and doubt are mutually exclusive you know...
ReplyDeleteReligion is a belief system, of which there are many, mine included. (So far I have only one member--grin! And NOT looking for more, OK Peeps?)
ReplyDeleteThat your prayers are answered could remove that doubt...about whatever.
Truthfully I don't worry much about that stuff any more. I find what I need in a leaf, a blade of grass, a storm, a baby's smile...and above all, silence!
Thanks for making me think anout this stuff, Rick!
the skin of religion is not all that pretty. steven
ReplyDeletereligion I've discarded,
ReplyDeletethe comprehension of which
drowns my spirit.
What an apt opening stanza...
Me, too...a lovely beatitude Rick...
ReplyDeleteWhile not true for me, your thoughts are very well-expressed here in this poem. I especially like the first stanza.

ReplyDeleteThis has depth that leaves one thinking.
ReplyDelete'require suspension of doubt,' is my favorite line. I love your poetry!
