between
generations
those
where
were
you
moments
spaced
between
generations
and
varied
perceptions,
are
indemnified
by
the
common
horror
struck,
stuck
between
heart
and
gut;
are
universal
in
the
shared
stunning
of
collective
sensibilities
and
individual
agonies
and
fears.

nice...yes there are a few in my life...science class for the shuttle explosion...my living room in FL for the second...in flight during 9/11 and put down in ATL with 18000 others...
ReplyDeleteThe first one that I remember having a powerful impact was Kennedy's assassination. I was in first grade, and my teacher ran from the classroom, into the hallway, as some kids were chanting, "Kennedy got shot". She returned to her desk in buckled in tears.
ReplyDeleteI will always remember that second plane hitting the towers on 9/11..watching it live on TV...then watching in horror as the towers came down
ReplyDeleteMy son-in-law was supposed to be there in those bldgs that day....
and that last photo..5/11
I'll remember...I do not delight in the death of the wicked....but I'm glad he cannot behead anyone with delight anymore..I remember Daniel Pearl
Rick, I really love what you wrote. I think this is something that ties humanity together; the things that horrify us or amaze us.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you string those photos together, I just realized they have such an impact.
How are you? And your barber =)
Kane
