Magpie Tales 122: Farewell: Never Taken Lightly

farewells

to say
"I'll see you later"
is to hedge a bet
that both of us
will be here

each wave
of the hand
dismissing fear,
brushing against
silent doubt,

footsteps in
open air.

  4. There are sad reflections prevailing here. You have managed to create a feeling of a softly brushed and rain washed blues. Thank you for sharing, Rick.

  5. I much prefer to say 'See you later' though, than 'Goodbye' Later gives the promise of hope, goodbye seems to final.
    This is lovely.

  7. On this Father's Day .. your poem reminds me I never had an opportunity to say goodbye to my father ~ who passed away when I was only sixteen.
My favorite line ~~ 'is to hedge a bet that both of us will be here.'
